Last 4 earnings calls · through Q4 FY2026

Super Micro nearly doubled revenue to $39.1 billion in fiscal 2026 and says $60 billion of new orders point much higher. But profit swings quarter to quarter with who buys, so the bet is whether its data center solutions and enterprise sales lift margins for good. How much of the $60 billion order book is data center solutions?

  • Demand is not the constraint; getting paid on time is.

Revenue landed below the middle of guidance in three of the last four quarters, each time because the customer's site was not ready. Management calls it a timing story, so the orders are real but the date is not Super Micro's to set. How many quarters in a row has revenue come in under guidance?

  • Gross margin is now a readout of who bought that quarter.

Margin fell to 6.4% in December when one customer took most of the business, then hit 17.6% in June on a richer enterprise and data center mix. Management says mix drives profit, so the margin reads out who bought, not a better business. How much of the June margin jump came from contracts that slid into Q1?

  • The growth is funded with outside money, not by the business.

Fiscal 2026 operations used $6.8 billion of cash, and in June it raised $5.6 billion, part in shares that take a slice of earnings. Management says it funds itself when growth is steady, so the plan rests on a pace it does not set.

Bullish
  • Orders exceed manufacturing capacity
The bull case is that orders from neoclouds and large enterprises arrive faster than Super Micro can build, so the order book rather than demand sets how fast it grows.
  • Data center building blocks
Selling cooling, power, networking and management software alongside servers raises profit per deployment and gives customers one supplier for a whole AI data center.
  • Enterprise and storage mix
Management is steering toward enterprise, storage and CPU server buyers whose orders price better than a few enormous AI clusters, which should steady margins over time.
Bearish
  • Revenue arrives later than guided
The bear case is that revenue keeps landing below guidance because customer data centers lack power, cooling and networking, so reported sales trail the order book.
  • Margins follow customer mix
Profit depends on which customers and products ship in a given quarter, so the recent margin gain fades when large AI contracts come back into the mix.
  • Supplier and customer concentration
One component supplier and a few large customers dominate the business, leaving little cushion if an allocation or a deployment schedule slips.
