Analysis

Last 4 earnings calls · through Q3 FY2026

Omnicom used the Interpublic deal to stop being a holding company and start selling media, data and AI as one product. Organic growth has climbed every quarter since the close, to 7.2% in Q3 FY2026, but it now rests on media alone while creative advertising shrinks. How much of the 7.2% came from clients Omnicom already had?

  • Media is now the whole company, and it is still speeding up.

Integrated Media is about 53% of revenue and grew over 10% in Q2 and Q3 while advertising shrank. Omnicom now sells as 'an operating company, not a holding company', so one discipline's health sets the whole company's growth. How fast is advertising shrinking relative to peers?

  • The merger savings doubled and are landing early.

Management doubled its cost-savings target from the deal to $1.5 billion, and core margin is up about 200 basis points this year. Those savings are what pay for the buybacks and the Omni platform rebuild without profit slipping.

  • Part of the growth comes from selling the slow businesses.

About $3.6 billion of annual revenue is being sold or exited, and organic growth now counts only what is left; Wren says the discards were the units 'dragging us down'. Until pruning ends, the headline rate overstates what is growing. What does organic growth look like once the disposals finish?

Bullish
  • Cross-selling connected services
The bull case is that media, data and creative sold as one package lets Omnicom win more work from existing clients and take share in reviews.
  • Cost synergies above target
Merging two public companies produced savings larger and faster than first promised, and most of the savings are expected to reach operating profit.
  • Share count reduction
Buying back stock shrinks the share count by roughly a tenth, so earnings per share can grow faster than the underlying profit of the business.
Bearish
  • Advertising agencies shrinking
The bear case is that growth comes from media buying and one-off events while the creative agencies that own client relationships keep losing revenue.
  • Integration and client losses
Combining two agency networks risks losing clients and senior staff, and the savings depend on cutting roles that support client work.
  • Client concentration
Clients can cancel on short notice and the largest hundred account for over half of revenue, so a handful of losses moves the whole company.
